But as an empty spring break was approaching, the idea for a trip to Forks, Wash., occurred to me as a possibility. I sincerely doubted the plans would ever come together to visit the home of the fictional characters of the novels I so adore. With money, time, chaperones and all of the other obstacles in my way, I thought that a regular spring break relaxing at home would be infinitely more likely.
