In Stephenie Meyer's New Moon, March 19th is day of some significance. It is the date that hundreds, thousands of Italian people crowded the city of Volterra clad in red. They did so in celebration of their Saint Marcus, one who tricked them into believing he rid the city of vampires, while residing within its very walls (though only feeding on unknowing out-of-towners).
